    Upcoming Teamsters National Freight ABF Contract Negotiations-Proposals

    As you are aware, the current Teamsters ABF NMFA expires on March 31, 2018. In preparation for negotiations for a successor agreement with ABF, the IBT is requesting local unions representing employees at ABF, confer with their members and shop stewards, and submit suggested proposals to the negotiating committees.
    Teamster UPS Screening Committees & Two-Person Review Scheduled

    The UPS and UPS Freight Screening Committees are scheduled for September 25th and the Two-Person Review is scheduled for October 17th. Teamsters Package Division Director Denis Taylor, Co-Chair of the UPS National Negotiating Committee, will lead the meetings along with Kris Taylor who is Co-Chair of the UPS Freight National Negotiating Committee.
    Gov Christie 200 Million Dollar Drug Initiative
    09/22/17 - New Jersey Law Enforcement Commanding Officers Association
    Narcan. The New Jersey Department of Corrections is allocating $1.2 million to train DOC custody staff on the administration of Narcan and provide each staff member with a dose to carry on their person in case of an inmate emergency. The funding also will provide one Narcan dose to each inmate being released, estimated to be about 10,000 each year. Since April 2014, there have been more than 32,000 deployments of Narcan by law enforcement and EMS agencies throughout New Jersey including more than 9,500 deployments for 2017 thus far.

    Renewal of DC Elevator Mechanics License

    I spoke with the ladies at Pearson Vue yesterday.  The computer for the renewal of DC Elevator Mechanics License is in the middle of a total overhaul.  The Renewal Letters that normally go out in September, will not be going out until October.  The system is unavailable until after October 1, 2017.  That will still give everyone 60 days to renew your license.

    September 19, 2017 -- On July 13, 2017, Southwest terminated an Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) for deviating from “all required procedures included in MT 735-00-01. The letter of termination indicates that the Company relied on surveillance tape to determine that the AMT may have allowed a second mechanic to sign for work that the AMT had performed: “security video evidences that a second AMT did not enter the area of the flight crew oxygen cylinder and therefore, required processes and/or procedures of MT 735-00-01 were not completed.”
